OAKLAND, Calif. -- Barry C. McCarthy will leave his position as vice president and general manager of ATM Banking at Wells Fargo & Company to become senior vice president and general manager of Cybergold's Currency Division.
Oakland, Calif.-based Cybergold, Inc. rewards consumers with cash for responding to Web-based advertisements and programs. Cybergold's partners include Visa USA, MBNA, AOL, EarthLink, E*TRADE and Autobytel.
"We're enhancing our operations with key talent and programs to seize market opportunities as they become available in both the payments and incentives arena. Hiring the right talent is just the beginning of the aggressive plays we intend to make this year," said Nat Goldhaber, CEO and president of Cybergold, Inc.
McCarthy joined Wells Fargo in March 1998. During his tenure there, he created a special Web utility that delivers e-commerce applications. He also developed a successful ATM screen and receipt advertising program -- Media Express ATM Network™. While at Wells Fargo, McCarthy also developed an industry-wide campaign strategy to fight anti-ATM surcharge legislation.
Before Wells Fargo, McCarthy was at Procter & Gamble Company, Cincinnati, Ohio, for more than 11 years, beginning in 1986.
"We've already developed a robust, bank-like infrastructure with millions of online cash accounts -- more infact than a number of leading banks. With Barry's talents and creativity, we will be exploring and developing new applications for our financial talents, including the development of B to B and financial infrastructure plays," Goldhaber said.
