Fla. credit union 1st to implement Diebold ATM check imaging

November 4, 2004

NORTH CANTON, Ohio - Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union is marking its first month of operation with Diebold's ImageWay ATM Solution. An electronic check-imaging solution for ATMs, ImageWay ATM enables financial institutions to capture check images at the ATM, transport them to a financial institution's server and format the data so it's compatible with the institution's back-office image processes.

Suncoast is the first financial institution to go live with Diebold's ImageWay ATM, according to a news release. The largest credit union in Florida and the eighth largest in the United States, Suncoast launched phase one of its implementation process on Oct. 4.

During phase one, a Diebold Opteva advanced-function ATM was installed in Suncoast's employee lounge on its main campus, where it can capture check images and send the images and transaction data through ImageWay ATM to an item-processing application provided by Advanced Financial Solutions.

"The response from our employees has been very positive and they are using the technology," siad Wanda Chambers, vice president of document services for Suncoast. "We're pushing through 20 to 30 items per day, which is wonderful volume for the environment we're in at this point."

During the second phase of the implementation, planned for 2005, Suncoast will roll out ImageWay and bulk note acceptors across its network to incorporate full deposit automation on its nearly 90 depository ATMs.
