Fiserv to intro common brand for its EFT networks

July 17, 2003

BROOKFIELD, Wis. -- Fiserv, Inc. (Nasdaq:FISV) will consolidate its regional EFT network brands -- ACCEL, Exchange, MPACT, TX and Instant Teller -- into a single ATM and POS brand called ACCEL/Exchange.

According to a news release, ACCEL will be the point-of-sale brand and Exchange the ATM brand.

When the merging of brands is completed, ACCEL/Exchange will have approximately 4,000 member financial institutions, more than 30,000 ATMs and more than 180,000 merchant locations.

Tony Catalfano, president and chief operating officer of Fiserv EFT/CNS, said in the release that the consolidation will take the ACCEL/Exchange brand to "a new level of recognition, building on a foundation of participating ATMs in all 50 states, the Caribbean, Canada, Guam, Japan and throughout Europe."

Each of the pre-existing Fiserv-owned regional networks will temporarily continue to function under their existing branding with ACCEL/Exchange as the umbrella name for the group of networks. Cardholders will continue to use the same cards and see the same signage until a uniform brand is gradually introduced, according to the release.

Fiserv's purchased EDS'Consumer Network Services, the owner of six ATM and POS networks including MPACT, ACCEL/Exchange and Exchange International, in late 2002. (See related story Recent purchase boosts Fiserv's ranking among EFT processors)
