The company's EMV education and marketing program provides an overview of the deployment process and tools for educating staff and cardholders.

Fiserv Inc., a provider of financial services technology solutions, has developed anEMV education and marketing programto help prepare client financial institutions and their cardholders for the chip card transition.

Though consumer familiarity with chip cards has doubled from 31 percent in 2014 to 62 percent in 2015, according to a Fiserv poll, almost one-third still do not grasp the benefits of EMV, which include greater card-present security and wider international acceptance.

The program from Fiserv includes an EMV chip card deployment guide for financial institutions that provides:

  • a detailed overview of the EMV deployment process;
  • options for delivering education to staff and cardholders;
  • training decks for staff education;
  • templates for letters and email campaigns to cardholders;
  • website content, including banner ads, FAQs and instructional videos; and
  • available customization, printing and fulfillment of materials in the program.

"People have been swiping their magnetic stripe cards for decades," said Jamie Topolski, director of alternative payments at Fiserv. "In order to prevent confusion, it's crucial to explain to cardholders how their new EMV chip cards will work and to educate staff, so that they can answer questions."
