Fiserv inks processing deal with Montana FI, expands insurance group

BROOKFIELD, Wis. - Fiserv Inc. announced in a news release that Great Falls, Mont.-based Heritage Bank is using its new Helena (Montana) Processing Center to support operations.

Heritage Bank now has access to the full capability of Fiserv's check-image-item processing for Montana-based financial institutions. All of the services flow seamlessly into the Fiserv Clearing Network to facilitate and improve the collection of checks. 

"Establishing the Helena Processing Center enables us to better serve the financial institutions in the area as well as expand into new markets to provide more cost-effective and efficient item processing and account processing solutions," said Sam Langham, president of Fiserv ITI Outsourcing for the Western United States. "Having a local presence for item-processing support (and) a local presence for networking services, combined with Fiserv software support and upkeep, focusing on the implementation of new products and satisfaction of regulatory and data processing demands, is an ideal situation for financial institutions."

Fiserv buys Insurance Wholesalers Inc.

Fiserv also announced that it has acquired Insurance Wholesalers Inc., which is based in Citrus Heights, Calif. According to a news release, the firm is expected to become part of the Distribution Solutions Division of Fiserv's Insurance Group.

Details of the transaction were not disclosed.

Insurance Wholesalers generates leads resulting in the sale of term and universal life insurance products. Brian Pope, who founded the firm in 1991, will continue as president of the newly acquired company. The firm's 42 employees will join Fiserv.
