First Data signs processing deal with Belize bank

BELIZE CITY, Belize - First Data Corp, an electronic-commerce and payment-services provider, signed a payment-processing agreement with Provident Bank & Trust of Belize, according to a news release.

Processing Center, S.A. (PROCESA), First Data's payment-processing company in Panama, offers transaction processing solutions that are tailored for the Latin America and Caribbean regions, and will service Provident Bank's electronic-payments needs.

"We selected First Data as our strategic partner based on its extensive experience in Latin America and its flexible and feature-rich services that will allow us to better serve our cardholders," said Jose Marin, senior vice president for Provident Bank and Trust of Belize Ltd.

"This agreement reflects First Data's strength in delivering market-tailored solutions to Latin America that enable a leader like Provident Bank and Trust to retain its competitive edge and offer high quality services," said Pam Patsley, president, First Data International.

"Since the inception of PROCESA in 2003, we've aggressively grown its footprint across Latin America and are uniquely positioned to serve the market with advanced card-processing solutions to support our clients' long-term growth and profitability objectives," said Peter Harrington, president, First Data International, Latin America and Canada.

PROCESA uses First Data's VisionPLUS transaction-processing platform to provide payment services for credit, prepaid, gift and corporate cards.
