First Data, Bank of the West deepen ties

Payments technology and services provider First Data has announced the expansion of its relationship with $65 billion-asset Bank of the West. The company will add credit processing to its current roster of payment services for the bank.

First Data has provided debit processing and network services to the bank since 1996, and has driven its ATMs since 2008. The new five-year agreement will extend services provided in debit processing, ATM driving and network services through the First Data card processing platform and Star Network.

"We are pleased to continue our long-standing relationship with Bank of the West," said Barry McCarthy, president of financial services at First Data. "This expanded agreement will provide the bank with a single processing platform for debit and credit, as well as access to added functionality such as analytics and security available across its card base."
