FIA arrests ATM scammers wanted by FBI

June 30, 2020

A gang of six alleged ATM scammers, two wanted by the FBI for an alleged bank robbery in New York, were arrested in Lahore, the second largest city in India, according to a report in The Express Tribune.

The Federal Investigation Agency Cybercrime Cell initially arrested one of the six while he was attempting to rob an ATM last week. When questioned, the suspect gave additional information on the other members, including two believed to be involved in a 2016 bank robbery in Tonawanda, New York. The FBI had posted a $15,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of each of the suspects.

The FIA devised a plan to force the additional five suspects out of hiding by pretending the first suspect was ill and hospitalized. When the gang members arrived at the hospital they were arrested, and the FBI was notified

When searching the apartment of the suspects, the FIA recovered what they believe is money stolen from ATMs, 50 ATM cards, a gun and tools.
