It's bad enough when an ATM has been hacked with a skimmer that steals data from users — worse still to have an entire ATM be a fake.
That's exactly what has happened in China, according to AFP. In what is being called the first scam of its kind in that country, scammers in Beijing bought an ATM from a manufacturer and deployed it on a busy corner. Transactions ended in an error message, after the user's data had been compromised.
