NORTH CANTON, Ohio - Europe's largest retailer will equip 70 of its supermarkets with Diebold, Incorporated's (NYSE: DBD) Opteva ATMs.
Carrefour Group recently ordered Diebold's Opteva ATMs for placement in its Champion supermarkets. The Diebold units offer advanced functionalities such as dispensing of coupons and tickets, delivery of marketing messages, funds transfers, balance inquiries and more.
"In our shops, ATMs are a service we offer our clients, and we want it to be the best service possible," said Colette Le Menager, Champion's director of cash register hardware. "Beyond the traditional ATM functions, Diebold's equipment also lets our clients access other services such as the purchase of concert tickets. The advanced functionality of the Opteva line permits us to easily put these options in place for our customers."
According to a news release, more than 20,000 Opteva ATMs have been purchased by some of the world's leading financial institutions since the product line's introduction in 2003.
Champion plans to replace older ATMs with the new Diebold Optevas. Installation of the units is expected to be complete by the end of 2004.
