BUDAPEST, Hungary & LEAWOOD, Kan. -- Euronet Worldwide, Inc. (Nasdaq:EEFT) has opened a new data processing facility in Budapest, which the company says almost triples its capacity for transaction processing in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) regions.
According to a news release, the new European Operations Center (EOC) and a backup processing center are in separate locations and are connected to two separate power grids with diesel generators for both centers. Should a hardware or software failure occur in the primary location, the system would redirect the processing functions to the backup center. Similarly, if a natural disaster occurred, the backup site would be operational with replicated data and redundant networks and operations.
Euronet also says it has relocated its European headquarters within Budapest, to Alkotas utca 48-50, Alkotas Point.
