Euronet launches prepaid services in Italy

LEAWOOD, Kan. - Euronet Worldwide Inc. has entered into an electronic mobile top-up agreement with SMA S.p.A., a large grocery chain in Italy.
According to a news release, the deal represents Euronet's entry into the Italian prepaid market, the company's 14th prepaid market.
Under the agreement, Euronet will integrate its e-top-up solution with existing electronic cash registers at SMA stores.
A pilot project is expected to be launched at select SMA stores this month with TIM, an Italy-based mobile operator. The full rollout is set for completion in all SMA stores by the first quarter of 2008.
