HERTFORDSHIRE, UK AND LEAWOOD, Kansas -- The UK operations of Euronet Worldwide (NASDAQ:EEFT) now offer Visa and MasterCard acceptance for cash withdrawals and credit card cash advances on Euronet ATMs after successfully completing a Visa audit of processing security and general procedures.
Citibank International, plc is sponsoring Euronet in this UK initiative, according to a news release. Euronet is currently partnered with Citishare and Citibank in six countries, including the ATM outsourcing program for Citibank Greece.
Adding international card capabilities like Visa and MasterCard at Euronet ATMs in the UK has allowed the company to widen its customer base, including international travelers, said Ron Delnevo, managing director of Euronet Worldwide's UK office, in the release. "We have already seen transactions on our ATMs increase by 3 percent upon the launch of this service, and expect the increase to reach 5 percent over the next year in the UK as the service becomes better known."
Matthew Lanford, Citishare vice president of global client services, said in the release that through the partnership Citibank customers have gained surcharge-free access to more than 740 ATMs in the UK with their Visa or MasterCard.
