ROCHELLE PARK, N.J. -- In the wake of Hurricane Floyd's powerful flooding, EDS' Rochelle Park switching center is fully operational again.
The processor's Rochelle Park center completely shut down late Thursday after rising waters from Floyd poured through the facility. Up to 5,000 ATMs may have been affected, according to reports.
EDS routed processing through three support data centers in Bellevue, Wash., Lombard, Ill. and Plano, Texas. Technicians at EDS' headquarters in Plano spent the weekend adding computer equipment to handle the batch processing previously done at Rochelle Park.
The New Rochelle data center began operations this morning with all critical systems back online and stabilized, according to a written statement from EDS. Core business applications for processing and network connectivity have been restarted and stabilized, according to the statement.
Plano will continue to conduct parallel operations while Rochelle Park's center continues to strive toward complete recovery of its processing systems and equipment.
The flooding of Rochelle Park's center impacted up to 95 percent of the Armed Forces Financial Network's ATMs and other services. However, links to AFFN's largest credit union, Navy Federal, were completed by Saturday evening, according to AFFN President LeRoy Collins Jr.
Bank of America (NationsBank), AFFN's largest bank, also had ATM service restored by that night. Also restored were 30 host links to primary networks.
