EAST inaugurates expert group on ATM physical attacks

May 28, 2014

The European ATM Security Team has launched its new Expert Group on ATM Physical Attacks. The group will focus on regional and global trends, methodologies and countermeasures in attacks on ATMs.

EAST EGAP provides a platform for in-depth and technical discussion of threats to the ATM environment and value chain, and on the range of protective measures available at each level. Broadly, these cover cash protection, ATM protection and securing the ATM environment.

The initial EAST EGAP meeting took place May 6 at UK Payments Administration in London, and was hosted by the LINK ATM network. Graham Mott, head of development and external relations at LINK, chaired the meeting, which was attended by selected representatives from ATM deployers, networks and vendors, as well as security equipment vendors, members of the cash services industry, and specialist consultancy organizations.

Going forward, EAST EGAP will meet in advance of EAST National Member meetings. Participation in the group is by invitation and is limited to representatives of EAST National and Associate Member organizations.
