Would-be thieves apparently have come up with yet another way to steal the PINs of unwary ATM users.
Drones.
Acording to report by the Belfast Telegraph, a drone was used last year in the County Antrim village of Templepatrick to spy on citizens using an ATM, recording their PINs as they entered them on the machine's keypad.
When a witness spotted the drone, it quickly fled the scene, but crashed into a taxi in the process. Police were then able to track down the drone's operator, who was made to pay for damage to the vehicle.
However, the article said, police were unable to prove that the operator had recorded the PINs of ATM users with any criminal intent, so no additional charges were imposed.
