Discover, Allpoint partner up

Surcharge-free network operator Allpoint Network, an affiliate of Cardtronics, and Discover Financial Services, the owner of the Discover card brand, have joined together in an agreement that will offer Discover card users fee-free access to Allpoint ATMs. 

Discover cardmembers can look for the nearest surcharge-free ATM using their smartphone and either the Discover mobile app or a mobile-friendly browser, and selecting the "show only surcharge-free ATMs" filter from the ATM locator options.

"In the direct banking environment, accountholders may be willing to forgo brick-and-mortar offices, but convenient cash access is still a must-have service," said Ben Psillas, president of Allpoint Network. "Discover is meeting that demand with surcharge-free ATM access through Allpoint, which brings together two brands known for delivering value to accountholders." 

"One of Discover's top priorities is providing the best customer service in the business, which means giving cardmembers convenient surcharge-free access to cash," said Dan Matysik, vice president for Deposit Products. "Allpoint's ATM network has cash stations throughout the country that our cardmembers can easily use."

Allpoint Network operates more than 55,000 surcharge-free ATMs worldwide, with terminals in retail outlets that include major discount retailers and pharmacies, and convenience and grocery stores. Allpoint serves more than 1,200 financial services providers, representing more than 60 million cardholders.
