MUMBAI, India -- Diebold, Incorporated (NYSE: DBD) has entered into a contract-manufacturing agreement with Indian IT firm, Tata Infotech Limited.
Under the agreement, Tata Infotech, based in Goa, India, will manufacture Diebold ATMs in India for distribution there and in South/Southeast Asia.
According to Gavin Cushman, chairman of Diebold HMA Private Limited, which handles the North Canton, Ohio-based firm's sales and service in India, the company chose Tata Infotech in order to speed-up deliveries to Indian financial institutions.
"India is a very important market for us, so we are extremely pleased to have reached this agreement with Tata Infotech," said Cushman, who also serves as Diebold's director of sales and marketing for its Asia Pacific arm. "The Indian ATM market continues to flourish rapidly, and this initiative will help us to be more responsive to local market needs and reduce lead-times for our customers."
