Diebold self-service underpins transformed branch for Bellco CU

Bellco Credit Union of Greenwood, Colo., is one of the state's largest financial institutions, with more than $2.4 billion in assets. The FI serves more than 230,000 members through its 21 branches.

With its new Stapleton location in Denver, the CU opted for a "transformed" branch design, and called upon Diebold Inc. Advisory Services to help incorporate the right blend of technology and personalized service.

The new, tech-based branch features three deposit automation-enabled Diebold Opteva Branch Performance Series in-lobby teller terminals. An Opteva 760 ATM offers shared-branch services as part of the Co-op NextGen ATM network.

Credit union members whose home institution belongs to the Co-op network may use the NextGen terminal to access full account information and carry out the same transactions available to them at their primary CU's ATMs.

This focus on self-service allows staff to more efficiently serve customers who require more involved assistance, said Doug Kearbey, senior director of administrative services at Bellco.

"Diebold's deposit automation technology allows us to transform our customary branch model to a self-service suite where members are free to manage deposits and withdrawals on their own," Dearbey said. "At the same time, our universal bankers have more time to spend interacting with members for more detailed transactions or to meet with them about their financial goals."

In addition to providing solutions for the Stapleton branch, Diebold is providing a number of outsourced services to Bellco. These include maintaining operating system and antivirus software, updating security patches, and delivering currency management services.
