NORTH CANTON, Ohio - Diebold Inc. has launched an ATM security Web site that provides information about how consumers can increase personal safety at the ATM and avoid being victims of fraud.
The site, atmconsumersafety.com, provides tips to protect against crimes ranging from robbery to electronic fraud. The Web site also highlights industry news and alerts about emerging ATM crimes.
"Using ATMs at odd hours or in remote locations can be a safer process if consumers are armed with the right information," said Anna Istnick, team leader of Diebold's Global Security Task Force. "As criminals become more technologically savvy, educating people about ATM scams and fraudulent activity becomes more of a priority."
According to a news release, Diebold is the first ATM manufacturer to produce a Web site focused solely on ATM crime prevention. The company encourages financial institutions to provide links to the site.
Last year the ATM Industry Association presented Diebold awards for "ATM Security Best Technology" and "Best Contribution to Promoting the Interests and Growth of the Industry in the Field of ATM Security."
As a global technology leader and innovative services provider, Diebold Nixdorf delivers the solutions that enable financial institutions to improve efficiencies, protect assets and better serve consumers.
