JAKARTA, Indonesia -- Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) has purchased 385 1064ix model cash dispensers from Diebold, Incorporated (NYSE: DBD), Diebold's largest single order to date in Indonesia. Installation of the machines at BRI branches is expected to be complete by the end of 2001.
Diebold's Indonesian distributor, PT Mitra Integrasi Komputindo (MIK), is providing account management, software implementation and overall project management to BRI. Additionally, future monitoring of BRI's ATM network will be accomplished using Diebold's Event Management System software.
"The awarding of this contract is a testament to the importance of having a strong in-country presence to market the advanced products and software we offer," said James L. M. Chen, vice president and managing director of Asia- Pacific for Diebold.
According to Chen, Diebold has the largest ATM market share in Indonesia, with an installed base of more than 2,500 terminals. "With the progressive recovery of the country's economy and the enormous market potential this ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations) country has to offer, Diebold is poised to keep a leadership position and expand its long term investment in Indonesia."
