Diebold clarifies plans for Coppell, TX, facility

May 29, 2013

Due to an error in a source publication, ATM Marketplace reported yesterday that Diebold Inc. would be closing its office in Coppell, Texas. Today, Diebold spokesperson Michael Jacobsen clarified that the company intends to reduce its employee count in Coppell, but has no plans to shut down the office.

Diebold will eliminate 52 positions at the Dallas-area location, which provides customer service and sales in north central Texas and surrounding states. The staff reduction, which was announced in April, will affect 31 Diebold employees and 21 contract employees.

Approximately 35 to 40 of the Texas jobs will be absorbed into operations in Green, Ohio. Some employees from the Coppell office will be offered the opportunity to transfer to Green.

Jacobsen said that even with the reduction in staff size, Coppell will remain a large office with an employee count of about 110.

The Coppell office staff reduction comports with Diebold's plan to pare its costs by $100 million to $150 million annually by 2015. The multi-year reorganization, which was described in the company's Q1 earnings call, will eliminate a total of 700 jobs worldwide.
