Diebold appoints new CIO

NORTH CANTON, Ohio -- John M. Crowther has been named vice president and chief information officer (CIO) for Diebold, replacing Charles J. Bechtel, who is taking early retirement from Diebold after 14 years with the company.

Crowther's chief responsibilities will be management and oversight of the company's information technology, service/technical support, market services and consulting/transaction services.

He comes to Diebold from Cummins, Inc., where he most recently served as vice president and chief information officer, and was responsible for a global, matrixed IT organization comprised of 1,000 employees and contractors, $175 million in annual spending, and major enterprise resource planning (ERP) and e-business program offices.
