NORTH CANTON, Ohio - Diebold, Incorporated (NYSE: DBD) has appointed Eric C. Evans, 51, to president and chief operating officer, effective Jan. 26.
Evans joins the company from Emerson (NYSE: EMR), where he served as Emerson group vice president for Emerson Climate Technologies Air Conditioning.
As president and COO, Evans will be responsible for Diebold's global operations in financial self-service and security, including all related functions in sales, service and manufacturing, according to a news release.
Evans spent 16 years at Emerson, most recently leading a $1.2 billion business group at Copeland in Emerson's Climate Technologies business. Copeland Corporation, based in Sidney, Ohio, is the world's leading manufacturer of compressors for air conditioners and commercial refrigeration systems.
Prior to Emerson, he was founder and president of Evans Company, a management consulting practice specializing in international business strategy. Prior to founding Evans Company, he also worked at Bain and Company, a leading management consultant firm.
"His people skills and track record of building a successful global company, combined with his understanding of and experience in finance and worldwide operations, will serve Diebold very well as we continue to grow our business," said Walden O'Dell, Diebold's chairman and chief executive, in the release.
