Diebold announces personnel changes

March 5, 2002

NORTH CANTON -- Alben W. Warf has retired from his position as senior vice president, development and manufacturing of Diebold, Incorporated. Warf, who joined Diebold as vice president and general manager of engineering in 1981, was responsible for research and development as well as the company's worldwide manufacturing operations.

Thomas R. D'Amico was appointed vice president of manufacturing for North America. He will be responsible for all manufacturing and manufacturing services in North America.

"Tom's experience will help Diebold in implementing the lean manufacturing philosophy throughout our plants," said Walden W. O'Dell, chairman, president and CEO. "These efforts will assist in reducing inventory as well as running our plants more efficiently, shortening the time between when the customer order is received and shipped."

Prior to joining Diebold, D'Amico held various management and manufacturing positions for General Signal Corporation, Handy & Harman, Coopers & Lybrand and Procter and Gamble. Most recently, he was executive vice president of operations for the Overhead Door Corporation in Alliance, Ohio.

Diebold also named Edward I. Maddern vice president of international manufacturing integration. He will be responsible for the integration of U.S. and international manufacturing facilities.

Maddern began his career with Diebold 41 years ago and has held various
management positions. Most recently, he was vice president of self-service manufacturing.
