Debit, credit expected to overtake cash in Asia

The Bangkok Post: Plastic debit and credit cards are expected to become more popular than cash over the next five years in Asia, according to the Bank of Thailand.The central bank expects electronic-payment services to increase, now that commercial banks and non-bank institutions are competing to offer an assortment of new services that satisfy consumer demands. In particular, credit, debit and ATM cards will likely be used in place of cash for payments and funds transfers.
