New York state has repealed its physical fee notification requirement for ATMs. Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed legislation dropping the rule this week, bringing the state in line with federal standards.
Last December, Congress sent President Obama legislation repealing Regulation E of the Electronic Fund Transfer Act. Since then, states such as New York and Nebraska have reconsidered their own regulations, which now serve no purpose except to fuel expensive civil suits against ATM deployers.
According to CUNA News Now, The New York Assembly bill was introduced by Assemblywoman Annette Robinson-D and Sen. Joseph Griffo-R.
