CU members take control of card security with Fiserv app

VyStar Credit Union, the 17th largest CU in the U.S. ranked by assets, has become the first Fiserv Inc. client to implement an enhanced mobile banking platform that includes new alerting and card control functionality for its debit card users, according to a press release.

The VyStar mobile banking app, powered by Mobiliti and CardValet from Fiserv, now includes a companion card controls app that can be integrated with a single sign-on.

Members can download the controls through the existing VyStar banking app on their mobile device. Once the app has been downloaded, the accountholder can use it to specify where and how their debit card may be used.

Members can set up custom real-time transaction alerts with parameters that include transaction amount and type, location and merchant. Additionally, the cardholders can deactivate a stolen or misplaced card.

Fiserv said that in the 90 days since VyStar updated its mobile banking app, more than 15,000 members have downloaded the new card controls app and registered their debit cards. According to the release, the feature that has proven most appealing to users is the ability to receive push alerts for transactions.
