Crypto ATM installed base ekes out growth in 2018

December 25, 2018

Despite depressed cryptocurrency values (currently around $4,200; down from an all-time high near $20,000 last December), the number of cryptocurrency ATMs worldwide has continued to grow in 2019, according to the latest report by Coin ATM Radar.

In November, the global crypto ATM count grew by 209, while the previously installed base shrank by 68, for a net increase of 141. This compares with a net increase of 150 crypto ATMs in October.

Of the newly installed machines, 70 were in the U.S.; where the current total of crypto ATMs stands at 2,243. The United States remains the dominant country with 70 new machines installed. Austria and Canada saw the installation of 17 and 16 ATMs, respectively, in November.

Also in November, Albania, Peru and South Korea each saw the installation of their first crypto ATMs, according to the report.
