Cryptera introduces outdoor payment terminal

April 27, 2011

Cryptera, a provider of secure payment solutions, has announced the launch of an outdoor payment terminal that is focused on providing a more cost-effective unattended payment option for manufacturers of transaction kiosks, drive-through applications and ticketing machines.

The Cryptera UPT 7000 is an integrated device that allows customers to insert their card, view a secure display message and securely input their PINs into a single slot, said officials of the company, which is based in Copenhagen, Denmark.

"Unattended payment deployers, such as gas stations, must promise their customers the highest level of security when they input their personal payment information and the UPT 7000 goes a long way towards supporting the promise," said Brian Schleisner, senior manager for Cryptera. "Its cost-effectiveness helps everyone all the way up the supply chain."

The UPT 7000 is ruggedly built with a gray polymer casing and is able to operate in temperatures as high as 150 degrees Fahrenheit and as low -91 degrees Fahrenheit. The terminal is certified and compliant to PCI security standards and prepared for international EMV transactions with the use of chip card and PIN code.
