Crooks try 'Bobcat' in failed Christmas Day ATM heist

December 26, 2013

Crooks used a "Bobcat," or a front loader, in an effort to make off with an ATM safe in Oak Ridge, Tenn., on Christmas morning, according to Oak Ridge Today.

The attempted theft ended up with the front loader on its side next to an apparently unopened ATM safe, the paper reported. The Oak Ridge Police Department was still investigating on Christmas morning.

The would-be thieves caused extensive damage to the credit union ATM, leaving ATM debris scattered in a field behind the drive-thru credit union machine and tracks leading to the tipped over piece of heavy equipment and the ATM safe.
