The Credit Union Journal:U.S. and international authorities are working closely with private entities to track down what they believe is an international ring that has tapped into credit union and bank accounts with information stolen from area retailers. Congress is urging Visa and MasterCard to disclose the names of the two national retailers (referenced in other media as OfficeMax and Wal-Mart) suspected of being the sources of the data leak that exposed customer debit card numbers. Fair Isaac & Co., which identified the unauthorized transactions with its Card Alert Fraud Manager, notified many of the affected financial institutions.
