Just a year ago, Conestoga Bank installed its first personal teller machines in a new Bankwerx mini branch — becoming one of the early adopters of interactive video banking. Based on the performance of those units, the Philadelphia-area FI is now installing two more of the machines in a new Bankwerx branch in Wayne, Pa.
The PTMs use technology from uGenius — a company acquired by NCR Corp. in January — that connects bank customers to a live, remote teller via two-way video over an ATM.
The remote teller has full control of ATM functions, creating an interactive experience in which customers can carry out more than 95 percent of typical branch transactions, and complete them 33 percent faster than an average teller interaction.
Additionally, the PTMs have allowed Conestoga Bank to expand teller service hours to 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
"We've always believed that transactional video technology can create a great experience, and we've found that our customers appreciate the additional service they receive through our personal teller machines," said Lori Adamski, executive vice president and chief operating officer at Conestoga Bank. "By acquiring uGenius, NCR has demonstrated significant leadership in the future of video banking, and we're excited about the future for this technology."
Brian Bailey, vice president and general manager of branch transformation at NCR, said the bank was seeing strong adoption and satisfaction rates among Philadelphia customers.
"One of the best validations of new technology isn't the initial purchase by a customer, but rather when the customer comes back to buy that technology again," he said.
