Columbus Data Services, Shazam strike ATM sharing agreement

December 2, 2013

Dallas-based ATM processor Columbus Data Services has begun processing transactions via the Johnston, Iowa-based Shazam Network, a full-service payments network provider and core processor for FIs across the United States.

The partnership makes more than 70,000 additional terminals available to Shazam customers, a press release from CDS said. According to Shazam SVP and CIO Terry Dooley, the commitment by CDS to deliver convenience and cost savings meshes well with Shazam's member-owned, not-for-profit strategy.

"We look forward to working together to drive value to our mutual customers," Dooley said.

On the other hand, the addition of the Shazam Network will allow CDS to process transactions for terminals across the Shazam Network, including those in Iowa, said John Willmon, SVP of business development at CDS.

"[I]t also gives us additional routing to a network that pays higher interchange to acquirers," Willmon said. "As one of the leaders in ATM processing in the U.S., we have the ability to support any ISO, regardless of where in the United States they have terminals."
