CIBC intros personalized ATM transactions via NCR software

October 21, 2004

TORONTO - CIBC recently launched CIBC Express Withdrawal, a new automated ATM service that leverages NCR Corporation's Windows-based APTRA Edge software.

CIBC's Instant Teller customers can personalize their favorite transactions, resulting in fewer screens to navigate and time savings at the ATM.

According to a news release, the CIBC Express Withdrawal service will be first deployed at Instant Teller machines on the concourse level of CIBC's Atrium on Bay branch in Toronto. Over the next year, 2,900 CIBC Instant Teller ABMs will be equipped with this service and other personalized transactions.

CIBC Instant Teller machines will also offer customers an automated Deposit Calculator service, which eliminates the need to manually add up their deposits.

"Just about everyone is pressed for time so we're always looking for ways to make ATM transactions faster and easier for our customers," said Domenic Ciccone, senior director of CIBC's ATM Channel.

"By offering more personalization at the ATM, CIBC can help make their customers' interactions with the self-service channel that much more valuable and relevant," said Nicholas Hames, vice president of NCR's Financial Solutions Division in Canada.

CIBC's launch of personalized ATM services is corroborated by an independent consumer survey commissioned by NCR in July 2004, which found that a majority of Canadian ATM users see value in the personalization of ATM transactions.

According to the release, banks that have introduced personalized transactions in North America, Europe and Asia have experienced take-up rates by almost two thirds of their customers.
