China's largest ATM co-op orders 500 NCR machines

August 22, 2013

NCR Corp. has won an order for more than 500 units from ATMU Technology Co. Ltd., the largest ATM cooperation operator and service provider in China. The order includes NCR SelfServ ATMs with functions that include cash dispense, deposit and cash recycling.

ATMU owns and operates its ATM network through a profit-sharing model with cooperated banks in China. This allows FIs — particularly those of small and medium size — to avoid making separate investments in dedicated ATM fleets.

The purchase includes both NCR SelfServ 25 with cash dispensing function and SelfServ 35 with cash deposit and recycling function. The through-the-wall and vestibule outdoor ATMs are well suited to tolerate extreme weather conditions found throughout China.

The cash recycling capacity of the SelfServ 35 reduces the need for servicing and the auto-recovery capability of both models from "soft" failures helps to decrease the number of first-line maintenance visits, maximizing ROI for ATMU.

NCR SelfServ ATMs also feature advanced management functions, giving ATMU more data about locations, configurations and activity levels for each ATM.

"ATMU is an innovator in providing an alternative option to banks' ATM investments," said Gary Miao, president of financial services for NCR Greater China. "We value our growing relationship with ATMU in broadening NCR SelfServ ATMs to the second- to third-tiered market in China, jointly making their bank customers and end consumers' everyday lives easier."
