PORTLAND, Ore. -- A recent study commissioned by Card Capture Services, one of the country's largest independent deployers, and manufacturer Diebold seems to indicate there is still room for growth in the off-site ATM market.
The companies' Retail ATM Study reported the following percentage of retailers who are currently without ATMs and are considering placements in 2000: large format retail stores, 50 percent; supermarkets, 43 percent; convenience stores without gas, 38 percent; drug stores, 20 percent; and small format retail stores, 16 percent.
The companies didn't say how many retailers were surveyed for the study.
According to CCS president and CEO Dave Grano, "Companies have started to recognize ATMs as a revenue source, and are managing their ATM portfolios as a retail category."
