CashWorks intros prepaid debit card at c-store chain

October 21, 2003

DALLAS - CashWorks, Inc., a provider of automated payroll check cashing solutions, is introducing a new CashWorks Platinum Card in Kum & Go convenience stores.

According to a news release, West Des Moines, Iowa-based Krause Gentle Corporation operates more than 340 stores in 13 states under the Kum & Go brand.

With the new card, Kum & Go convenience store customers can cash payroll or government checks at participating stores with a PayPort check cashing terminal. Customers will receive their funds on a prepaid debit card that will give them the ability to convert all or a portion of the funds immediately to cash at an ATM located in the store. Any balance can be kept safely on the card.

Cardholders can then access their funds at virtually any ATM around the world and can make purchases at retail locations that accept on-line debit cards for payment.

"The CashWorks check cashing program is an important part of our strategy to boost store sales and fee income by providing new and valued services to our customers," said Chad Breheny, director of corporate development for Krause Gentle, in the release. "Our customers will benefit from the tremendous security and flexibility the CashWorks solution offers."

The CashWorks system installed at Kum & Go convenience stores will use the same patent-pending PayPort terminal and other check cashing technology created by CashWorks, which is already operating at hundreds of sites across the United States.

"We are pleased to provide a vehicle that will increase customer loyalty and sales at Kum & Go convenience stores while providing an important and valuable new service to customers," said Ken Rees, president of CashWorks.
