Carolina Foothills Federal Credit Union has turned over complete management of its ATM fleet to Dolphin Debit, an ATM management company, in a multi-year agreement.
Carolina Foothills FCU has nine ATMs — one at each of its five branches and four off premises in manufacturing plants, a post office, and a hospital.
Dolphin will upgrade existing machines for the $95 million FCU to ensure full compliance with Windows 7 and EMV chip technology requirements, a news release from Dolphin said. The company will also provide ongoing turnkey management and service for the ATMs.
"When we had to change three ATMs due to ADA requirements, we decided that was a good time to make the change to Dolphin Debit," said Carolina Foothills president Scott Weaver. "Dolphin takes care of all the updating and keeping up with compliance issues, and that was a key factor for us. Dolphin takes on complete ownership."
Weaver said that income from the ATMs wasn't enough to offset the expenses, and that the FCU will enjoy "significant" savings now that they've been turned over to Dolphin.
"Like so many credit unions, what Carolina Foothills needed was a partner that could provide better ATM management and improved member service, and that is where we specialize," said Dolphin Debit president Ben Allen.
