TORONTO - Two brothers turned in $160,000 (U.S. $117,600) they found at ATM at a supermarket north of Toronto, according to a report in the Montreal Gazette.'
"It was either go to the cops or go to Cuba." Tony Dolmaya joked as he and his brother Bashar visited a nearby police station to return $160,000 in cash and checks they found sitting on top of an ATM in 81 envelopes earlier this week.
The pair was shopping at the supermarket on June 1 when Bashar went to use his card at the ATM. "We could see through the holes in the deposit envelopes that they were stuffed with cash and checks," said Tony Dolmaya.
According to the Gazette, a two-member ATM service team that had worked on the machine inadvertently left the stash behind when they left the store.
