Canada to intro new $10 note by end of 2018

Canada will introduce its first vertically formatted bank note into circulation later this year, according to a press release from Bank of Canada. The $10 polymer note features Viola Desmond, a Nova Scotia businesswoman and civil rights pioneer.

The new note includes a number of advanced security features, including:

• Smooth polymer texture and some transparent areas.
• Raised ink on the front: on the portrait; the word Canada; and the number 10 at the bottom.
• Detailed metallic images and symbols in and around a large transparent window.
• A color shift from gold to green in the pattern in an eagle feather.

According to the release, the new note will be a permanent design; a $10 note released in 2017 was a limited edition.
