California woman gets key to Jeep at KeyBank ATM

February 26, 2002

LOS ANGELES and CLEVELAND -- Beverly Alexander, a Corona, Calif. mother, grandmother and nursing supervisor, won a 1999 Jeep Wrangler in the KeyBank/ARCO "Key to Your Car" ATM sweepstakes the first time she used a KeyBank ATM.

Alexander, a 25-year nursing supervisor at the Hubert H. Humphrey Clinic in South Central Los Angeles, used a KeyBank ATM for the first time and entered the "Key to Your Car" sweepstakes at an ARCO am/pm convenience store in Corona.

Patrick J. Swanick, president and CEO of Key Electronic Services, a division of KeyBank said "the partnership with ARCO is significant because the KeyBank ATM network is recording 400,000 transactions a month in a region where KeyCorp does not have bank branches."

Jack Kucler, executive vice president of Key Electronic Services believes the KeyBank/ARCO alliance will give Key a presence in California, Arizona and Nevada, as well as broaden existing Key ATM networks in Washington and Oregon.

The ARCO partnership has expanded KeyBank's ATM network by 30 percent. KeyCorp has 2,600 ATMs across the U.S. Since their arrival in April, KeyBank ATMs at ARCO stores have recorded more than 4 million transactions. With 470 Key ATMs, California now ranks third behind Ohio's 504 and Washington's 488.

Alexander, accompanied by her husband, daughters and grandchildren, will pick up her new $25,000 Jeep Wrangler at the same ARCO am/pm store where she entered the sweepstakes.

Following the presentation ceremony, the Alexander family, KeyBank and ARCO representatives will travel to the Hubert Humphrey Clinic, where KeyBank will present a donation for the care of children and the nurse appreciation fund. KeyBank also is donating 500 Bean Bag Buddy animals for the children. ARCO plans to make a similar donation of products, including sports bottles with gift coupons.
