C-store chain buys frame-relay ATMs from eFunds

May 19, 2003

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Convenience retailer Mac's Convenience Stores, LLC, which operates more than 500 outlets throughout the United States, has chosen eFunds as its primary ATM provider.

According to a news release, Mac's purchased 379 new frame-relay ATMs from eFunds to speed up consumer cash withdrawals at its chain of Dairy Mart, Bigfoot and Handy Andy stores. The new ATMs will add to the existing 138 eFunds' Access Cash-branded terminals that have been at Bigfoot stores since 1998.

According to the release, one factor in Mac's decision was eFunds' ability to operate ATMs on the frame-relay network, which results in faster transactions than those processed using traditional dial-up connections. With this new ATM deployment, Mac's will leverage an existing frame-relay network.

Jeff Bippus, senior business manager, Mac's Convenience Stores, said in the release, "eFunds' willingness to provide new technology with frame relay machines and our great working relationship with eFunds over the past five years made the decision easy."
