Burroughs sells check-scanning assets to Digital Check

September 19, 2016

Digital Check Corp., a provider of image capture and payments processing technology, has agreed to purchase the SmartSource, Elite, Quantum DS, and ReceiptNow family of products from Burroughs Inc., according to a press release. Terms of the deal, which covers people, products, and expertise supporting the assets, were not disclosed.

The acquired assets will become an integrated part of Digital Check’s operation and will take on the Digital Check brand name.

The acquisition significantly broadens Digital Check's product lineup and it bolsters the company's network of reseller and partner relationships, the release said.

"The merging of the SmartSource Scanners with Digital Check clearly creates a single leader in check scanning solutions," said Burroughs President and CEO Larry McCarter. "Burroughs will be working closely with Digital Check to ensure our customers experience a smooth transition, supported by the highest level of service for our installed base of scanners for years to come."

Bruce Young, currently general manager of the Burroughs check scanner and receipt printer business, will join Digital Check as vice president and general manager of the SmartSource scanner business.
