Britain's poor areas lack free ATMs, charity says

Metro.co.uk: Britain's poorest areas have become deserts for free cash machines, a charity has warned. The deprived areas are prominent in the first list of the worst places to find a free ATM. In 1999, almost all ATMs were free; today 40 percent of the 58,000 ATMs charge a fee, according to a report by Citizens Advice. Chapeltown in Leeds has 10 ATMs that charge fees and no free ones. Other deprived fee-free ATM-deprived areas include Tottenham, Leyton and Clapton.
