Brazil's Banco Bradesco demos what's 'Next' in banking

August 30, 2012

Brazil's Banco Bradesco has introduced Bradesco Next, a new branch model and showcase for high-tech banking innovations.

According to Fast Company, the bank employs robot greeters, biometric ATMs, and lots of touchscreens at its new branch in one of São Paulo's high-end shopping malls. (The Fast Company article includes a photo gallery for the Next branch.)

ATM innovations at the branch include an email receipt option and angled placement of the monitor that keeps the next person in line from looking over the user's shoulder. ATMs feature biometric hand-readers for cardless account access.

The branch also provides a private room where a Bradesco customer can communicate with avatars that provide information about accounts. If a question exceeds the avatar's problem-solving abilities, the customer has the option to connect to an interactive teller.

Biometrically activated touchscreens in the branch provide custom-tailored information about loans, savings and investment planning and more.

"The challenge was to create an innovative space to interact with our clients, a place where technology would adapt to their needs and allow for interaction, something that would match our view of how the relationship between bank agencies and customers would be conducted in the future," Bradesco executive director Candido Leonelli told Fast Company.
