Booth and kiosk maker Edra Equipamentos of Brazil has developed an ATM booth that uses environmentally friendly materials and runs on alternative energy sources.
A report in Composites World said Edra Equipamentos's "Contemporary Bank Project" took about a year to prototype at a cost of around $300,000.
The booth features walls and ceiling made of a polymer material derived partly from resources that include oilseed and recycled PET bottles. The floor is made from 90 percent discarded packaging waste.
The inside of the booth is illuminated by diffused natural light during the day and by solar panel-powerd LED lamps at night.
President of Edra Equipamentos. Jorge Braescher, told Composites World, “After the surveys held with several banks and approximately five hundred users, we defined the concept of the booth and promoted a contest among several architects to select the design. Then, we entered into a few agreements with the suppliers of raw materials.”
The company plans to begin large-scale manufacturing of the booth in June.
