The nation's new PayLink system facilitates switching and processing of transactions for local, regional and cross-border financial institutions.

April 14, 2015

BPC Banking Technologies, a provider of open system payment solutions for the financial industry, has launched processing and card personalization centers for PayLink Albania.

PayLink facilitates switching and processing of transactions for local, regional and cross-border financial institutions, according to a press release. The system was founded as a single processor to act as a new payment ecosystem for local payments, and already serves Union Bank Albania.

BPC has implemented an end-to-end platform based on SmartVista and has migrated the Union Bank client portfolio to the new platform. The PayLink system now stands ready to offer Union Bank customers a range of MasterCard products as well as local PayLink cards, the release said.

PayLink also will manage Union Bank ATMs around the country through its SmartATM solution. SmartATM aids in the overall management of terminal networks, reducing costs and minimizing technical downtimes, BPC said.

"As a service company to the Albanian financial community it was vital for PayLink to have a flexible and highly available processing platform," said Liliana Nanaj, CEO of PayLink Albania. "We are looking forward to drawing on the functional strengths of SmartVista to set a new level of payments processing in Albania, bringing even more products both to our clients and their customers."
