BofA rolls out Teller Assist ATMs

April 8, 2013

Bank of America has announced the addition to its fleet of ATMs with Teller Assist. The new ATMs allow customers to speak with a BofA teller during extended hours via real-time video, receiving the same quality of service they would at a banking center counter.

"Many Bank of America customers appreciate the self-service option of the ATM, but may require more personal help or have a question for a teller," said Shelley Waite, ATM channel executive at Bank of America. "The ATM with Teller Assist is the best of both worlds."

The new service gives customers access to a range of everyday banking services during extended hours. It also offers bilingual support in both English and Spanish.

Through Teller Assist ATMs, customers can carry out many of the same transactions available from a traditional banking center:

  • Cash checks for the exact amount (including change).
  • Make cash withdrawals including denominations of $1, $5, $20 and $100.

Additional functions are planned for the future:

  • Deposit checks with cash back.
  • Split a deposit into two or more accounts.
  • Make loan or credit card payments.

Teller Assist ATMs will be installed in banking center, drive-up, and remote locations. The first units will be available in April at a Bank of America banking center in Boston; others will roll out to banking centers in select U.S. markets throughout 2013.

ATMs with Teller Assist and teller-assisted transactions will be accessible during extended hours: 7:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m. local time on weekdays and 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. local time on Saturdays and Sundays, excluding holidays. Consumers will be able to perform standard ATM transactions on the machines around the clock.
