Banks help besieged by waiving ATM, other fees

USA Today:Some financial institutions are waiving late payments and ATM fees and extending loan terms for customers affected by Hurricane Katrina. Wachovia is expected to waive ATM fees and provide loan assistance for some of its customers in Alabama, Florida and Mississippi. Chase expects to give bank customers a break on a case-by-case basis. And AmSouth is providing discounted loans and letting borrowers skip certain payments. Other banks are likely to follow suit.
